Safety clips are meant to be a secondary attachment point for dogs if they are an escape artist, or if something else fails. One example would be to attach it from their harness to their collar, so if they slipped out of one, they would still be attached by something. These are not designed to be used as a leash extension. These are meant to merely be a backup device in case something else fails. All stitching is reinforced for strength, and if used properly will withstand high impact for a brief period of time so you can get your dog under control again.
OPTION A: Measures 10 inches from end to end. One end of this is meant to stay attached to a collar or harness or whatever you desire more permanently.
OPTION B: Measures 7 inches from end to end. This is easier to swap to different gear sets then option A as it has clips on BOTH ends.
