Need help with sizing?

This sizing guide above is also in each listing for ease of use. To measure your dog use a flexible measuring tape and measure around their neck where their collar usually sits. Do not measure this too tight, or too loose. You can also measure a current well fitting dog collar and use that measurement as well.

Collar Width Hot Tips!

Here are some common breeds of dogs that may look good in different widths of collars!

3/8th inch: Teeny dogs with teeny necks (EX: chihuahua’s and similarly sized tiny dogs) and Cats. This size is available in breakaway and regular buckles.

3/4 inch: Small breed dogs and other dogs who weigh under 20/25 pounds or so.

1 inch: Almost any dog can look good in this size of collar! Smaller dogs may want to size down to the 3/4 inch, and larger dogs may want to go up to the 1.5 or 2 inch.

1.5 inch: For the medium and larger breeds who want a slightly thicker collar than normal to show off more of the pattern! These larger sized width collars may be too heavy for smaller breeds due to the size of the hardware.

If you are not sure how a particular width will look on your dog, you can cut a strip of paper in the width desired and see how it looks laying on your dogs neck! You can also see below for some reference pictures. The buckles are slightly wider then the width listed!

If you are between sizes you can check in with me to see what would fit best. Make sure to leave room for adjustments if your dog is still growing! If your dog has a neck size of 19 inches for example-I would recommend the Large, not the Medium. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Martingale Collar Information!

Martingale collars are designed with an extra ‘control loop’ that is made to expand to go over your dogs head and then tighten when being walked to prevent the collar slipping over the dog’s head. This is great for safety purposes for dogs who are escape artists, or if their head is smaller than their neck (like greyhounds!) You will need to measure your dogs neck very carefully! I also strongly recommend measuring your dog’s head at it’s widest point to be sure the Martingale will slip over. If your dog has a difference of more then 3 inches between the two (with the head being the bigger of the two) it may be better to ask me to add a buckle- which I am happy to do if you message me! Or let me know both measurements and I’ll make the control loop bigger to ensure it fits :)

When measuring your dogs neck and head please make sure to measure snugly. The head measurement must be taken at the widest point so I can be sure it slips over correctly! Not super loose, but as accurate as you can! Martingales are intended to be used for safety purposes for dogs who may back out of a typical dog collar. Never leave a martingale on your dog unattended, customer assumes all risk and liability. They are meant to tighten up just enough to prevent your collar from slipping off, when properly fitted there should be an inch (maybe two inches on bigger dogs) of room when tightened. I can do a two-toned Martingale if you want, just send me a message and I can let you know what options are available for it!

 Harness Fit information!

These harnesses are custom made by me when you order! The top strap can be made in any fabric available in my shop. The Nylon can be made in any color available

This is a traditional H-style harness, but the top and bottom straps are designed to be longer then usual so this harness naturally sits farther back from the dogs armpit. This is to help with chafing in their armpits. Anyone with a dog with short fur knows this struggle!

***To measure your size: Measure your dogs chest at it's biggest point, this may be slightly back from the armpit-see picture to see where harness should sit on the dog. You can reference the neck size to make sure you are in the right ball park. This neck measurement will likely be slightly larger then your typical neck measurement for a dog collar. You can look at that same picture to see how the neck sits. When in doubt, go for the chest measurement first. ***

If you are wondering what size would be best, please contact me before ordering! Fitting a dog to a harness is MUCH trickier then a collar-and I want to be sure you have made the right choice as I am unable to offer refunds if the wrong size is purchased. I am happy to exchange if need, but this takes time! CUSTOM SIZING UPON REQUEST. I.e If you want the neck size offered by the medium and the chest girth of the large, I can mix and match sizing. Please contact me before pursing a custom order like this :)
