Martingale Style Slip on Collar
Martingales can be made in any fabric or patterned polyester collar that is available and *in stock* on my page. Please let me know in the personalization box what fabric you want! (If it is not in stock, I most likely do not have any on hand, and may have to contact you regarding a different fabric choice).
If your dog has a rather sizable difference in the size of their head to the size of their neck it may be good to reach out to me with these measurements! I may suggest we add a buckle to help with the fit. (I can do this in general if you want, just send me a message (Standard buckles at no cost, specialty buckles will have an upgrade cost) Basically, if you are concerned it won't slip over your dog's head, please reach out to me! I can make alterations very easily if we chat first :)
These collars are designed with an extra ‘control loop’ that is designed to expand to go over your dogs head and then tighten when being walked to prevent the collar slipping over the dogs head. This is great for safety purposes for dogs who are escape artists, or if their head is smaller than their neck (like greyhounds!)
***FIT INFORMATION***
When measuring your dogs neck and head for a martingale please make sure to measure snugly. Martingales do fit true to size for your dogs neck so please take the time to measure your dogs neck accurately. Because these do fit tighter then a traditional collar I tend to recommend buying one where your dogs neck measurement has some wiggle room below it to accommodate fit. The Martingale collar will naturally sit 'loose' on the dogs neck, and will tighten when in use, this is why I recommend always measuring your dog's neck to get their true size. Many people have traditional collars fit looser then the dogs neck measurement.
Martingales are intended to be used for safety purposes for dogs who may back out of a typical dog collar. Never leave a martingale on your dog unattended. They are meant to tighten up just enough to prevent your collar from slipping off, when properly fitted there should be an inch (maybe two inches on bigger dogs) of room when tightened.
